Russia to build meat plant in Smolensk region
The Safonovsky meat plant will be built in the Smolensk Region of Russia, with construction materials producer, YurAl acting as the investor.
The meat plant will be built in three stages. The slaughter house and refrigerating and deep-freeze lines are to be completed by the end of 2012. The dissection and meat production lines are to be launched in 2013.
The plant will produce 60,000 tonnes of beef and pork a year, as well as 60 million tonnes of stewed meat and 18,000 tonnes of deli meats.
