Global Bio-chem shifting towards polyol production

In a sign that China's Global Bio-chem is moving more and more towards polyol production, the company announced the opening of its new polyol factory in Changchun, Jilin province yesterday (July 30).

Polyol has a high profit margin of 40 percent to 50 percent. Its production is expected to account for 20 percent-30 percent of the total revenue of Global Bio-chem next year and the percentage is expected to rise to 35 percent by 2012.

The factory in Changchun is expected to start operation next month. Production is expected to reach 60,000 tonnes by the end of 2007 and 200,000 tonnes in 2008.

Global Bio-chem is the largest lysine producer in China.
