Czech meat production down 1.5 percent in Q2
Meat output in the Czech Republic dropped by 1.5 percent on-year to 156,026 tonnes in the second quarter of 2007, the Czech Statistics Office (CSU) said on July 30, 2007.
Poultry and beef production fell by 4.8 percent and 0.2 percent year-on-year, respectively, while pork production grew by 0.4 percent in the second quarter of 2007.
Pork is the country's biggest meat, accounting for 54.4 percent of the overall output; poultry, 33 percent and beef, including veal, for 12.6 percent during the period.
The average price of slaughter bulls and heifers went down by 3.2 percent and 3.7 percent, respectively, for the second three months of 2007 from year ago. Slaughter cow price declined by 0.5 percent, and slaughter calf price dropped by 1.3 pct year-on-year in the period. On the other hand, slaughter pig price fell by 9.1 percent on the year, whereas the average slaughter poultry price grew by 5.5 percent in the second quarter of 2007.
