Mexico's Bachoco to boost poultry output through acquisitions
Mexican poultry producer Industrias Bachoco SAB (IBA) said Wednesday (July 29) that it has closed several acquisitions to boost the output and efficiency of its operations in the country's northeast.
In a press release, Bachoco said it has acquired a soy-processing plant, as well as a balanced-feed mill with a production capacity of about 3,000 tonnes of pellet feed per week.
Bachoco also bought a chicken-processing plant with a production capacity of 9,000 chickens per hour, which will replace its Monterrey processing plant that was damaged by a fire last year.
Separate agreements also were reached to rent breeder farms and egg-incubation plants from third parties, Bachoco said.
Bachoco's thinly traded B shares fell 3.1 percent Wednesday on the Mexican Stock Exchange to close at 24.15 pesos (US$1.82).
