China is the world's third largest dairy producer

China has emerged to be the third largest manufacturer of dairy products in the world, after the US and India, according to data released by the Dairy Association of China. Total dairy production volume in China has reached 32 million tonnes in 2006, an increase of 15 percent from 2005.

Sales value of China's dairy products totalled US$15 billion in 2006. Average annual consumption was 25.6 kilogrammes, up 75 percent from the year 2000.
