Argentina first-half poultry exports up 33 percent on-year
Argentina's poultry exports surged 33 percent during the first half of 2007 compared to the same period a year earlier, the animal and food-inspection agency, Senasa, reported Friday (July 27).
Argentina shipped 67,363 tonnes of fresh and processed poultry and subproducts during the first half of the year.
The value of poultry shipments during the first six months of the year totalled US$81.2 million, up 48 percent from the same period in 2006.
The primary markets for fresh poultry exports were Chile with 11,364 tonnes, South Africa with 6,560 tonnes and Saudi Arabia with 3,198 tonnes.
China and Hong Kong were the main markets for subproducts, including claws and wings. China purchased 10,229 tonnes of poultry subproducts while Hong Kong bought 6,972.
Argentina's main markets for processed poultry exports were Germany with 938 tonnes and Holland with 726 tonnes, according to Senasa.
