China's chicken exports to reach 450,000 tonnes in 2014

According to China's National Poultry Industry Association, China's chicken exports are expected to rise further to 450,000 tonnes this year.

The association, part of China Animal Agriculture Association, said that the country exported 430,600 tonnes of chicken in 2013, an increase of 1.91% compared to 2012.

China exported chicken products to 52 countries across Asia, Europe and the Middle East last year. Japan is the biggest market for Chinese chicken products, accounting for 52% of the total exports.

China is also a large producer of pork, beef and lamb. However, productions of these meats are hardly enough for domestic demand and therefore the potential for export is limited.
