Pork prices fall in Vietnam
 
 

The price of pork in the market city in the province has started to decrease, as consumption slowed after blue ear pig outbreaks in Long An and Tien Giang.

 

Small business selling pork in some markets such as Hoang Hoa Tham, Bau Cat (Tan Binh), Ky Son (Districts) says the purchasing power of pork is quite slow.

 

Price of pork has declined from VND2000 to VND5000 (US$0.11-US$0.26) per kg, depending on the type of meat.

 

Meanwhile, in the supermarket channel, purchasing power and price stability over the sources provided by the production company has the brand. There was also the phenomenon of consumers switch from buying meat at the market to buy at the supermarket to ensure safety.

 

According to representatives of Hoc Mon wholesale market (Hoc Mon District) and Binh Dien (District 8), weak purchasing power in retail markets has caused meat consumption growth in these markets is the slowdown. Mr Ho Phuoc Hai, director of Binh Dien wholesale market said, although no state has been displaced but the phenomenon of small businesses to sell off every last until morning.

 

Sale price decrease from the previous week and is forecast to continue to decrease if the market increased in quantity and demand does not increase.

 

According to Nguyen Tien Dung, deputy director of Hoc Mon wholesale market, the pork is mainly originating from the eastern provinces and in HCMC area, less pig from the western provinces.
