UK's Dairy Crest lowers its milk prices

UK's Dairy Crest has lowered its ex-farmgate milk price by 0.3 pence/litre on its liquid contract for August milk.

This meant that now, all of the main liquid milk processors have announced price cuts, within six months of the initial retail milk price initiative.

First Milk was the only one of the big fixed milk buyers which has not announced a price drop.

Meanwhile, in Ireland, industry representatives have met with the country's government, calling for its challenge of the EU Commission's management of dairy markets to help alleviate the pressure on milk prices.
