Japan Food Dept Buys 101,000 MT Wheat For Sep Shipment
The Staple Food Department at Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has contracted to buy 101,000 metric tons of wheat for September shipment in a tender, a department official said Thursday.
The official said there was no barley tender this week.
Of the wheat it bought, 61,000 tons were of U.S. origin, with 21,000 tons being western white wheat, 20,000 tons hard red winter wheat, 11,000 dark northern spring wheat and 9,000 tons high-protein wheat.
It also bought 20,000 tons of Canadian western red spring wheat and a further 20,000 tons of Australian standard wheat.
