Ukraine feed wheat prices seen to rise further

Ukrainian feed wheat prices are likely to increase further in the near future on higher export demand, according to analyst ProAgro.

Local feed wheat prices increased UAH10 per tonne last week, and the trend for the near future is moving up, said ProAgro in a report.

Exporting companies have started to increase prices in Black Sea ports, and local prices could rise by another UAH20 to UAH30 per tonne soon, the report said.

Ukrainian wheat traded at about US$111 per tonne EXW as of mid-May against an average US$107 over the past four weeks.

ProAgro said poor weather which could reduce wheat quality this year, might increase the share of feed grain in the harvest and that could affect prices after the new crop arrives into the market.

Analysts expect Ukraine to harvest 19.1 million tonnes of wheat in 2009.
