China fishmeal imports up in June
China imported 91,899 tonnes of fishmeal in June, up 7 percent from May, and a 53 percent fall from the same period last year.
Imports in June came mostly from:
Peru: 43,237 tonnes;
Chile: 30,683 tonnes;
US: 2,683 tonnes.
For the period from January to June 2006, China's fishmeal imports totalled 500,654 tonnes, down 31 percent on-year.
