Brazil to resume US beef export soon

Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture said Monday (Jul 26) the country's processed beef shipments to the US should restart in one month.

The Brazilian government is confident that processed beef exports will quickly restart, but the decision depends on the US, said minister of agriculture Wagner Rossi.

In May, US authorities rejected a shipment of beef from Brazil's JBS SA, the world's biggest beef producer, after detecting high levels of an anti-parasitic medicine in a shipment of processed beef. Since then Brazilian processed beef shipments had been suspended.

Brazilian technical specialists have visited their US counterparts to determine the rules and processes for beef shipment.
