US local shrimp output declines

 
 

Local shrimp output in June 2010 is down 47.6% (9.59 million pounds) over the same period in 2009, according to USDA.

 

Currently, the main season for catching brown shrimp in Texas has officially started, but many American fishermen have expressed concern over oil spills can cause negative effects to the catches.

 

Medium brown shrimp prices in the US market is trading at US$5.1 per pound, up sharply compared to US$3.5 per pound in May 4, 2010 and US$2.5 per pound in the same period last year.
