Delhi government wants to outsource abattoir operations

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) wants to outsource operation and maintenance of its Ghazipur slaughterhouse, according to a report by Press Trust of India.

This move is seen as an economical as it may save Rs 1.5 crore per month being spent on the abattoir.

The state-of-the-art unit was in place last year and not yet completely functional. The MCD is seen to close the doors of the old slaughterhouse at Idgah with the opening of the abattoir that can slaughter 10,000 animals in three sections.

However, the MCD has been unsuccessful in convincing all the butchers to move to the new complex.
