Ukraine's June pig inventories up 1.7 percent
Pig numbers in Ukraine up by 1.7 percent (121,400 animals) in June from May 2009, to 7.204 million animals, the State Statistics Committee has told UKRINFORM.
Pig numbers at private farms grew by 1.6 percent (65,700 animals), to 4.136 million animals, while the number of pigs at farm enterprises rose by 1.9 percent (55,700 animals), to 3.069 million animals.
Pig numbers grew by 6.6 percent (444,000 animals) in June 2009 from June 2008, including a 15.6 percent increase at farm enterprises, and a 0.7 percent increase at private farms.
In May 2009, pig numbers grew by 3.5 percent (238,700 animals) from April 2009, to 7.083 million animals.
