Australia's goat meat exports hit record high
Australia's goat meat exports have reached record levels of A$31 million (US$23.38 million) in the first five months of 2005, an increase of more than 50 percent from the same period last year, according to Meat and Livestock Australia.
The country's biggest goat meat exporter Western Exporters said that the jump is due to increased US sales, with the drought in Australia helping to put more goats on the market.
Western Exporters predicts that the goat meat export boom will continue for some time.
