Heilongjiang corn market firm on shortages, feed demand
Corn prices in northeast China's Heilongjiang province have maintained the rising momentum backed by slightly tight supply and rising demand from livestock breeding and feed processing enterprises.
Currently, purchase prices of corn in the province stand at RMB2,190-2,210 (US$340-343)/tonne.
Although majority of corn processors in the province have suspended production for overhaul, they continue to buy corn but the daily purchase volume has dropped significantly due to limited supply resources.
Since the middle of July, Heilongjiang has seen high temperature and abundant rains, which is favourable to corn growth.
