Thai agriculture ministry unveils safe meat campaign

Thailand's Agriculture and Cooperative Ministry launches a project to promote safe and clean meat for sale among traders.

The symbol of clean chopping block is to be granted as certification for operators as well as in order to assure consumers of cleanliness throughout the process.

According to the Agriculture and Cooperative Ministry, the project is aimed to make the public aware of hygiene standard and the development process in fresh and clean meat sold in the market. Operators who are certified by the Department of Livestock Development will be granted the clean chopping block symbol to guarantee their hygiene standard in the process from slaughterhouse to meat shop so that consumers can be confident on the safety of the purchased meat.

The project is scheduled to be held on July 29-30, 2010 at the Crown Property Market in Nakhon Pathom province. The exhibition of related knowledge such as safety system development for food and tips in buying fresh and clean meat for cooking will be on display at the event.
