US catfish feed deliveries in June down on-year
Total catfish feed delivered in the US during June was 85,686 tonnes, down 11% from June 2009, but up 34% from the previous month.
Foodsize catfish feed delivered totalled 80,769 tonnes, down 13% from the corresponding month a year ago. Feed delivered for fingerlings and broodfish totalled 4,917 tonnes, up 54% from the corresponding month a year ago.
June feed delivered to Mississippi catfish growers for foodsize fish totalled 39,337 tonnes, down 13% from last year. Mississippi accounted for 49% of the total foodsize catfish feed delivered to US farmers.
The other major states with catfish feed deliveries for foodsize fish in June and their comparison to the previous year were Alabama with 27,165 tonnes, down 6%; Arkansas with 7,102 tonnes, down 35%; and Louisiana with 735 tonnes, down 53%.
