Hog production sees rapid expansion in China's Hezhuang town
Hog production in Hezhuang, a township located near Hangzhou city in China's Zhejiang province, has recorded impressive growth in recent years.
As of June 30, the township's inventory of hogs has reached 78,465 heads while total hog sales were at 32,084 heads. Livestock production in Hezhuang now accounts for more than 20 percent of the total value of annual agricultural production in that town.
Hezhuang's government had been active in encouraging the growth of medium- and large-scale farms. The two largest livestock companies in Hezhuang, namely Xiaoshan Yongfeng Livestock Company and Xiaoshan Dongfang Livestock Company, now boasts hog inventories of above 30,000 heads each.
