US cattle head register year-on-year increase

As of July 1, 2005, all US cattle and calves totalled 104.5 million head, a year-on-year rise of 1 percent from 103.6 million.

The number of cows and heifers that have calved, registered a year-on-year rise of 1 percent at 42.8 million head from 42.5 million.

Meanwhile, the 2005 calf crop was expected at 37.8 million head, up slightly from the previous year.
