China's sulphur imports soar in first half of 2013

Fangchenggang, China's largest port in terms of sulphur imports, registered 1.11 million tonnes of sulphur shipments during the first half of 2013.

The import volume, which is valued at US$192.87 million, is a surge of 40.9% compared to the same period of 2012.

The imports mainly came from Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Iran, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Spain, US and Canada. Among them, the Middle East is the major supplier, accounting for 75% of the total import volume. Chemical enterprises in the southwest region Sichuan and Yunnan are the main consignees.
