Estonian poultry consumption increases

Although there was an overall decrease in sales of food last year, Estonia's poultry consumption increased by 5%.

Presently, output of poultry in the country is modest so the rate of self-sufficiency is only 54%. However, the figure also indicates that there is a potential for sales development in the industry.

According to the country's Minister of Agriculture, Helir-Valdor Seeder, Estonia will nurture the poultry sector in order to increase self-sufficiency in the local market. He also added that intake of poultry in the world is increasing so it is crucial to invest in the local poultry sector so that Estonia will be able to fulfill future market demands.
