Good-to-average Hungarian grain crop expected in 2008
Hungary's 2008 grain crop will be "a good to average" quality despite recent heavy rains, state news agency MTI said Thursday, quoting National Association of Grain Producers' president Jozsef Vancsura.
"Two-thirds, that is 2.5 million to 3 million tonnes, of the total 5.2-5.3 million tonnes of autumn grain crop expected is already in the barns," it cited Vancsura as saying.
The quality of the approximately 2 million tonnes of grain still in the fields is likely to worsen to fodder quality, he added.
