Indonesia and China to forge team effort against bird flu

The Indonesian government has announced that the country would cooperate with China against bird flu. Experts would be exchanged and import of bird flu vaccines from China formally coordinated.

Meanwhile, the government said that the culling of pigs infected with bird flu in Tangerang, Banten province, would not be effective in eradicating the virus. Instead, the key to achieve this objective lay in poultry, which were the source of transmission.

In response, the government would intensify monitoring of all types of poultry, including ducks, in Tangerang.
