Four Ukrainian poultry enterprises will start exporting to EU countries starting July 24, after the EU allowed Ukrainian poultry products to enter its market.
Ukraine's Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk said at a press conference on Tuesday (Jul 16) that this year, the country will export no less than 50,000 tonnes of poultry meat to the European market. Every year, the supply volumes to external markets will grow, he stressed.
PJSC Myronivska Poultry Farm and three enterprises under Ukrainian company MHP S.A.: Myronivska poultry farm (chilled and frozen chicken meat), Snyatynska poultry farm (goose meat and foie gras) and meat-processing plant "Legko" (convenience food) received from the EU authorities the approval to export produce to the EU from July 24, 2013.
Mykola Prysiazhniuk said, "In December last year, a decision has been taken on Ukraine's entering a list of countries, having a right to export poultry products to the EU. Since that time on, examinations were held at enterprises, which wanted to enter the European market with their products. Production has to comply with all requirements of the EU law," the Minister noted.
According to the Minister, by results of examinations, the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine gave the European Commission's Directorate General for Health and Consumers (DG SANCO) a list of enterprises for taking a decision.
"Currently, the coordination procedure has been completed. Exporting enterprises are PJSC Myronivska Poultry Farm, Myronivsky Meat Processing Plant Lehko, LLC Agromars and LLC Sniatynska Nova Poultry Farm. Already, from July 24, they will be able to start exports. For Ukraine, as the agrarian country, this is very important, since national producers for the first time received possibility to supply not only raw materials to the European consumers, but ready-made foodstuffs," Prysiazhniuk emphasised.
At the same time, the Minister noted that according to the Ministry's forecast, Ukraine will reduce import of dietetic meat two-fold in 2013.
