Vietnam seafood faces more regulations in Ukraine

Vietnamese seafood exporters will face more barriers as Ukraine imposed stricter regulations on imports of meat and meat byproducts on July 24.

Under the new regulations, goods produced overseas have to be evaluated and approved by official Ukrainian agencies before being shipped and sold in the country.

This will cause Vietnamese seafood exporters to meet shipping difficulties because they had not been given enough notice before the new rules came effective, said the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

Therefore, Vietnam will have little time to adjust its production techniques to meet new food hygiene and safety standards.
