Chile seen to expand market for Brazil chicken
Chile will likely add another six chicken-meat-packing facilities to a list of 12 permitted last month, the Brazilian Chicken Exporters Association (ABEF) said.
We are just waiting for official word and that is expected to come next week, ABEF president Francisco Turra told Estado.
Turra said exports to Chile would likely be around 30,000 tonnes compared with a total of 1.8 million tonnes exported worldwide in the first six months of the year.
Shares of Brazil's major chicken companies, Sadia and Perdigao, were up 6.8 percent and 5.6 percent respectively, on the Sao Paulo stock exchange Bovespa Wednesday (July 23).
