China's CPI rises 3.2 percent in H1 2007; meat product prices up sharply

 

 

China's consumer price index (CPI) rose 4.4 percent in June compared with the year ago, the National Bureau of Statistics said last week. CPI in the first half of this year increased 3.2 percent on-year.

 

Prices of food grain rose 6.4 percent on-year while meat and processed meat product prices had soared 20.7 percent compared with the same period last year. Egg prices were also sharply higher, up 27.8 percent on-year.

 

Meanwhile, prices of aquaculture products had edged up by 3.7 percent. Fresh fruits and vegetable prices were both down by 2.9 percent on-year.
