Russia's 2011-12 grain exports post 27 million tonnes
Russia exported almost 27.2 million tonnes of grain in the last agricultural year (July 2011-June 2012), the Ministry of Agriculture told Interfax.
"If we are to be totally precise, export amounted to 27,149,000 tonnes," a ministry spokesperson said. This is a record figure for Russia as regards grain exports.
The Ministry of Agriculture forecasts exports of 16 million tonnes for the current agricultural year (July 2012-June 2013). Over the course of a month, this indicator has been revised down from 20 million tonnes.
The Ministry of Agriculture forecasts a gross grain harvest of 80-85 million tonnes, versus 94.2 million tonnes in 2011.
