Ukraine meets domestic grains demand despite unfavourable weather
Ukrainian government completely provided the domestic demand for grains despite the difficult weather and climatic conditions, especially in the eastern region of the country, solving the issue of food security and ensuring the stable price for bread.
Besides, there will be no limitations on exports of these crops, declared Nikolai Prysiazhnyuk, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, on July 19.
The Minister also noted that as of the reporting date, Kherson and Dnepropetrovsk oblasts, and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea faced the largest crop losses, due to adverse weather conditions.
Generally, in 2012 the volume of grain production in Ukraine will total 45-47 million tonnes, which significantly exceeds the domestic demand. Besides, the carry-over stocks total nearly 10 million tonnes, added the Minister. In 2012 the main task of the Government will be keeping of the existing and conquering of new export markets.
