Ukraine July grain exports seen at 1.3 million tonnes
MOSCOW (Dow Jones)--Ukraine exported just over 1.06 million tonnes of grain since the beginning of July, the first month of the current marketing year, and with another 230,000 tonnes contracted for the remainder of the month, the country's total grain export in July will reach 1.3 million tonnes, the agriculture ministry reported Thursday (July 23).
The ministry said most of the exports were grain harvested last year but some newly harvested wheat and barley were already being shipped.
The ministry said Ukraine's grain storage facilities were holding 5.9 million tonnes of grain harvested this year, and the proportion of milling wheat in the total amount of wheat stored to date was 10 percent higher than last year.
Ukraine exported 24.5 million tonnes of grain in the 2008-2009 marketing year.
