Iran's grain output seen to increase 29 percent
                         


Iran's grain production this year will increase 28.7 percent or 4.4 million tonnes to 19.7 million tonnes, according to the FAO.

 

Iran's wheat production is also forecast to increase 38 percent to 13.5 million tonnes, the FAO said, adding that all grain types in Iran will experience growth this year.

 

FAO also expect Iran's cereal grain production to increase 500,000 tonnes to 3.4 million tonnes, while the grain reserves will increase by 800,000 tonnes to 3.7 million tonnes.

 

Last year, Iran harvested only 15.3 million tonnes due to the drought.
