China's new soy supply is expected to reach 48 million tonnes in the 2007/08-crop year, according to the State Grain and Oil Trade Centre.
Among the soy supply, 13 million tonnes will be produced locally while the remaining 35 million tonnes are imported.
Soy consumption for oil pressing is forecast to reach 37.5 million tonnes, up 2.8 million tonnes from the previous crop year.
Domestic soy consumption is expected to hit 46.92 million tonnes, up 3.1 million tonnes over the last crop year.
In addition, China's new soy supply in the 2008/09 crop year is expected to reach 52.2 million tonnes, of which 16.5 million tonnes are produced locally and 35 million tonnes from imports. Soy consumption for oil pressing will also hit 40.5 million tonnes, up 3 million tonnes from this year.
