Brazil's SLC Agricola to increase crop land by 14 percent
Brazilian agribusiness company SLC Agricola said Monday (July 21) it will increase its crop land by 14 percent to 220,000 hectares in the 2008-09 crop cycle.
The crop land will be used for a mixture of corn, soy and cotton. The company said it would likely increase soy output by a bit more than the other two crops due to favorable pricing and because soy is one of Brazil's leading export commodities.
In 2009-10, SLC plans to go from 220,000 hectares to 270,000 hectares.
SLC Agricola is one of Brazil's largest owners of farm land in the center-western and northeast states.
