Malaysia's Sunzen aims to develop more "green" feed additives

Animal biotechnology specialist and feed additives manufacturer Sunzen Biotech Bhd in Malaysia plans to develop more "green" or non-antibiotic animal healthcare products.

Managing director Dr Tan Kim Sing said consumers were very concerned about food safety and this has resulted in the industry adopting non-antibiotic animal feed additives.

He said European countries have banned the use of antibiotics in animal feed additives and he believed the trend would come to Malaysia.

The company announced in March this year it aims to be the top feed additive supplier in Malaysia within three years. The company is currently number three, behind Gladron Chemicals Sdn Bhd and Age D'or Chemicals Sdh Bhd. Sunzen was formed from a management buyout of Pfizer's animal health division in Malaysia in 1998.
