Second bird flu outbreak hits Thailand
Thailand has been hit by yet another pathogenic bird flu outbreak-the nation's second in less than two weeks, according to Thailand's Livestock Department.
The department said that chickens in the province of Kamphaeng Phet, 360 kilometres north of Bangkok, have tested positive for the H5N1 virus on July 21.
The first bird flu outbreak was reported on Jul 11 at four different places in the central Suphanburi province, about 100 kilometres west of Bangkok.
As neighbouring countries such Vietnam, China and Cambodia fight to keep their bird flu outbreaks under control, the Thai government ordered in this month all provinces to start inspections for bird flu in poultry.
