Henan's 2011 autumn grain output set to rise

Central China's Henan province will strive to raise its autumn grain production to more than 24 million tonnes this year, up 500,000 tonnes over last year, the provincial government said in a circular on measures to ensure grain production.

According to the measures, the province sets the target to stabilise its autumn planting area at above 4.43 million hectares, with corn and paddy acreage to reach 2.97 million hectares and 633,333 hectares respectively.

Henan's autumn harvests account for 40% of its annual grain production and thus play an important role in achieving the province's target of maintaining the full year's grain output at above 50 million tonnes.
