Brazilian beef exports up for first half of 2005

Brazilian beef exports registered US$1.46 billion for the first half of 2005, a 30 percent year-on-year increase, according to the Brazilian Meat Exporters Association (ABIEC).

Russia was the biggest importer, followed by Egypt.

Brazil has also benefited from import bans by some countries on US and Canadian beef following the cases of mad cow disease there.
