South Korea H1 corn imports down 30 percent
                   


South Korea's corn imports in the first half of 2009 have declined 30 percent on-year to 3.5 million tonnes, according to data from the Korea International Trade Association.

 

Corn imports for feed production, which account for around 80 percent of the total, dropped 33 percent to 2.8 million tonnes. The largest feed corn supplier was the US at 2.1 million tonnes, while second-placed Brazil supplied 499,166 tonnes.

 

Imports of food-grade corn dropped 17 percent to 697,812 tonnes.
