USDA raises Ukraine's wheat export forecast by 66 percent

Ukraine's wheat exports are expected at around 2.5 million tonnes in the 2006-07 marketing year (July-June), the USDA said in its July grain trade report.

The forecast was an increase of 1 million tonnes from the previous estimate due an improved outlook on the harvest this year.

The USDA also raised Ukraine's wheat export estimate for 2005-06, now putting it at around 6 million tonnes, or 500,000 tonnes higher.

The USDA now expects Ukraine's wheat harvest at around 13 million tonnes, or 2 million tonnes more than forecasted earlier.

Ukraine's wheat harvest last year was 18.7 million tonnes.
