China maintains forecasts for 2011 soy output, imports

The China National Grain and Oils Information Centre (CNGOIC) Friday (Jul 15) kept its monthly estimates on China's 2010-11 soy output and imports unchanged from the previous month.

The state-supported think-tank predicted that the country would produce 15.2 million tonnes of soy in the crop year of 2010-11 that began from October, up 1.5% over the preceding crop year.

Meanwhile, it also forecasted soy imports at 53 million tonnes for the crop year, compared with 50.3 million tonnes in the 2009-10 crop year.
