China's Gansu province reports steady growth in agriculture for H1
During the first half of the year, the agricultural economy in Gansu province maintained steady growth despite some unfavourable weather conditions and declining pig prices, given the local government's supporting policies.

Summer grain production is estimated at 3.52 million tonnes, a rise of 107,000 tonnes compared to 2009. Wheat production is expected to grow 99,000 tonnes or 3.1% to 2.71 million tonnes.

In the first half of 2010, the province produced 675,000 beef cattle (up 8.8%) and 4.94 million mutton sheep (up 8.2%). It kept a livestock on hand of 34.50 million chickens and produced 16.61 chickens. Growth in dairy cattle farming recovered while milk purchasing volume increased. Live pig farming resumed growth in June.
