Brazil's beef export values surge in H1

Brazilian beef exports totalled US$2.352 billion in the first half of 2010, 23% more than a year before, the Brazilian Association of Beef Exporters (Abiec) said Thursday (Jul 15).

In terms of volume, there was a 2% increase, to 971,900 tonnes (equivalent carcass).

June's exports totalled US$455 million and 177,000 tonnes - 19% more and 2% less, respectively, than a year before. The reduction in volume was due to a suspension in US processed meat imports.
