Russian January-June pork output up 32.8% on-year

 


Russia produced 350,000 tonnes of pork in January-June, an increase of 32.8% compared with January-June 2009, the federal statistics service reported late Thursday.


Without giving output figures for June, the statistics service said pork output in June increased by 31.9% compared with June 2009 and by 3.7% compared with May this year.


Meanwhile, the value of Russian pork imports in June was US$202 million, a rise of 13% compared with the year-earlier month, when US$178.6 million worth of pork was imported.


June's imports were 2.2% higher than in May, when US$197.6 million worth of pork was imported, the federal customs service reported Wednesday (July 14).
