Nepal's army urged to eat domestic chicken instead of imported meats
In a plea for patriotism, Nepal's government has asked the Nepali Army to eat domestic chicken instead of goat imported from India, Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat announced.
Nepal produces nearly 150,000 kg of chicken every day, according to Nepal Hatchery Industry Association.
Minister Mahat said the move was in response to the business community's concern that the government had not done enough to support Nepali industries.
Addressing a post-budget interaction organised by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) in the capital on Monday, minister Mahat said the main theme of the new budget unveiled last week was to provide resources to rural areas.
