Chiatai makes first chicken shipment to Japan

Qinhuangdao Chia Tai Co Ltd this week exported 1,820 tonnes of chicken meat to Japan, the company's first shipment to the country after Japan's amended regulatory rules for residual chemical additives came into effect.

Japan is a major importer of Chinese chicken. The country amended its regulatory rules on residual chemical additives in May this year. The new version of the rules saw a tenfold increase from 36 to 382 regulations, greatly raising the standards that China's chickens have to meet to be allowed entry into the Japanese market.
