Russia's Agro-Belogorye to unveil first of five pig farms
Agro-Belogorye, a Russian agricultural firm, plans to put into operation the first of five projected pig plants, worth a total of RUB3.6 billion (US$0.11 billion), in late July in the Belgorod Region, a group representative stated Friday (July 13).
The representative said that all the construction works on site were completed. The facility is to launch sales in September.
Each of the projected complexes is to have a capacity exceeding 6,000 tonnes of pork in live weight annually. The five facilities are planned to increase the group's production capacity by 30% before 2013.
At present, the group produces 105,000 tonnes of pork in live weight annually.
Earlier, Agro-Belogorye planned to open 10 pig complexes worth a total of RUB6.5 billion (US$0.20 billion). However, the group revised its plans due to dramatic changes on the pork market.
Established in 2007, Agro-Belogorye is a vertically integrated holding and one of the country's largest pork producers.
