Savushkin Product to begin dairy products export to EU
The EU committee has decided on June 18, 2012 to import Belarusian raw milk and dairy products from Savushkin Product.
Prior to the decision the European experts scrutinised not only Savushkin Product company but also the feed stock it uses. The EU officials were looking into whether the company was compliant with the EU food safety regulations.
At present time Savushkin Product regularly supplies its products to 75 regions of Russia, Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan. Germany, the Czech Republic and Latvia import only birch juice. Savushkin Product exports several kinds of milk powder products to non-CIS countries. Export accounted for 50% of overall production in H1 2012.
Savushkin Product updated the design of its products. The company changed its logo in February 2012. Work is underway to redesign the packaging and reposition the brand.
Savushkin Product is one of Belarus' major dairies. The company operates plants in Brest, Kamenets, Pinsk and Stolin. The company processes up to 2.5 tonnes of milk per day. In H1 2012 the company processed over 242,000 tonnes of milk, up 13% as against the same period last year. The company seeks to improve the quality of its feed stock. Extra-grade milk and first-grade milk account for 70% of all raw materials processed.
